Over the River and Through the Woods

Over the River and Through the Woods by Joe DiPietro
Now Playing until March 23

Nick is a single, Italian-American guy from New Jersey. His parents retired and moved to Florida. That doesn’t mean his family isn’t still in Jersey. In fact, he sees both sets of his grandparents every Sunday for dinner. This is routine until he has to tell them that he’s been offered a dream job. The job he’s been waiting for — marketing executive — would take him away from his beloved, but annoying, grandparents. He tells them. The news doesn’t sit so well. Thus begins a series of schemes to keep Nick around. How could he betray his family’s love to move to Seattle, for a job, wonder his grandparents? Well, Frank, Aida, Nunzio and Emma do their level best, and that includes bringing to dinner the lovely—and single—Caitlin O’Hare as bait...we won’t give the ending away here. This play is directed by Doris Merten & Suzanne King and features Cole Pfaffenberger, Adrian Collinson, Jeanette Sebesta, John Stevens, Anne Boyd & Ericka Conway with Marylin Faulkner & Terry Talley backstage and Kristen Sheils in the tech booth.

Honeymoon at Graveside Manor

Honeymoon at Graveside Manor by Pat Cook
July 21 - August 19, 2023

Marian Thorncraft is looking forward to her honeymoon with new hubby, Tyler. She pictures someplace romantic, secluded and cozy. No sooner have her feet touched the ground after being carried over the threshold than she discovers her love nest is really a one-time mortuary! Graveside Manor, as the locals call it, has been abandoned for years, mainly due to the rumors of it being haunted. Cozy as a bat cave, it's about as secluded as Grand Central Station. A daffy maid shows up to clean the place and gets lost in the catacombs behind the walls. This goes unnoticed because Tyler is too busy ducking a female ghost with a hatchet, three high-school kids trying to set up a Halloween prank and his wise-cracking female editor who once had a crush on him. Throw in an absent-minded cop and the escaped lunatic he's looking for and the stage is set for a Honeymoon at Graveside Manor. This play was directed by Elvin Moriarty & Janye Anderson and featured Tyler Hastings, Suzanne Mobarak, Tony D'Armata, Antonia Laverde, Danielle Blinka, Valeria Dominguez, Willie Morris, Stephanie Mallace, London Tye & Guy Shanks with Kiki Cummings backstage and Maddie Koenig in the tech booth.

Laundry and Bourbon takes place on the front porch of Roy and Elizabeth’s home in Maynard, Texas, on a hot summer afternoon. Elizabeth and her friend Hattie are whiling away the time folding laundry, watching TV, sipping bourbon and Coke, and gossiping about the many open secrets which are so much a part of small-town life. They are joined by the self-righteous Amy Lee who, among other tidbits, can’t resist blurting out that Roy has been seen around town with another woman...
This play was directed by Sam Martinez & Michael J Marlowe and featured Kelly Swinehart Wehrer, Tricia Yurcak, Lauren Lawson, Jody Koster, Cole Pfaffenberger & Christopher Krause with Maddie Koenig backstage.

The Glitter Girls

The Glitter Girls by Mark Dunn
September 16 - October 15, 2022

The play revolves around an ad hoc meeting of a North Georgia women's social club called The Glitter Girls, convened by its richest member – one Trudy Tromaine – who is supposedly at death's door and wishing to bequeath some of her millions to one lucky Sister of the Gleam and Sparkle. The hitch is that it’s the members themselves who must decide to whom to award the small fortune (with hopes that the Glitter Girl they select will see it in her heart to share the money with the rest of her sisters). The play can be economically described as Steel Magnolias meets Survivor, with a big dose of quirky Mark Dunn humor thrown in for good measure. This play was directed by Judy Reeves & Terry Talley and featured Alice Rhoades, Michael Maccato, Jess Hurd, Asad Ali, Pamela Kinney, Pamela Branstetter, Jennifer Prior, Julie Burks, Jalene Manzie & Chris Cancila.

Theatre Suburbia Needs Your Help

As we approached our landmark 60th season, we made the necessary move to a new location at 5201 Mitchelldale. Sadly, this move occurred just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit our community in full effect, forcing all of us to reconsider how we operate and interact on a daily basis. It is because of this and our concern for the safety of our community and our wonderful patrons and volunteers that we have made the choice to cancel all live performances until further notice.

Ticket sales have been our primary source of income and it is challenging to stay afloat without them. If you have enjoyed even one of our more many productions, we ask that you let us know with a donation.
